More than just Politics
At UNESCO, where discussions usually focus on culture and history, an unexpected debate took over—what’s the best movie ever made? Delegates threw out their own picks, with some choices raising eyebrows.
Mauritius confidently backed White Chicks, calling it a comedy classic. While undeniably funny, is it really the greatest film of all time? Cameroon, on the other hand, couldn’t decide between 10 Things I Hate About You and Interstellar, two movies that couldn’t be more different—one a high school romance, the other a deep-space epic.
But in the eyes of The Times of India, the answer is clear: Jurassic Park. Spielberg’s 1993 hit isn’t just entertaining—it changed the way movies were made. It’s got action, suspense, and some of the best special effects in film history. More importantly, it’s a movie that still holds up decades later, something few films can claim.
What does this mean for India? With Bollywood producing over 1,000 films a year—more than any other country—choosing a single “best” movie is nearly impossible. But if this debate proves anything, it’s that movies—whether comedy, sci-fi, action, or romance—shape culture just as much as they reflect it.
